This charter sets out to clarify the roles and responsibilities of the Nationwide Association of Fostering Providers (NAFP), what our members can expect from NAFP, and responsibilities of member independent and voluntary sector fostering agencies (IFAs). It is designed to strengthen the association and to demonstrate a shared commitment to the best foster care for children.

Governance
NAFP is a not-for-profit company. The Board of the company is the overall decision making body and is drawn from an elected Executive. The Executive has responsibility for:
- Recommendation for approval by the Board of the organisation’s annual plan
- General oversight of NAFP's operations and progress against the annual plan
The Executive is made up of elected representatives from members at each tier of membership to ensure a broad range of views can be taken into account when issues are discussed. Executive members serve for a term of three years. All members are encouraged to put senior staff forward for positions on the Executive when vacancies arise.

NAFP members commit to:
- Share innovation and best practice
- Follow NAFP codes of practice for members
- Notify NAFP of any changes of ownership of this organisation and/or any changes that affect the tier of membership fee to be paid
- Notify NAFP immediately if the registration of any of their agencies is suspended, qualified, or cancelled by the relevant inspectorate
